Re: Moss under Mexican weeping bamboo? Can it be raked?

You have a couple of options. Moss can withstand a little raking. However, it would be better to put a fine mesh over the top of the moss when it is the season for the bamboo leaves to fall. Then you can just pick-up the netting and the leaves will come up with the netting. This is what many moss growers recommend for moss gardens in deciduous forests where the leaves drop in the fall. Another good ground cover is Pachysandra. Small leaves drop into the Pachysandra and become berried in its deep leaves. Unless the leaf problem is really severe, you usually don't have to rake under Pachysandra.
