I still remember the thick, green moss ground cover at the Cunningham Falls State Park in Frederick County, Maryland, when I visited there in the 1980's. If I were you, I would be perfectly happy with the gift of the moss in your backyard, but I would also even be so stalwartly independent in my determination to keep it there, or to allow it to replace to grass lawn, I would, perhaps, be somewhat of a social problem to anyone who went to war against my moss ground cover.
